The mosaic of our school community

SGS Munich Whole School

We take immense pride in our thriving international community. We have grown again this year as we welcomed many new families to St. George´s. Our students represent 51 nationalities, with half of them having German nationality (often alongside another). 73% of our pupils are international, with either a parent or the student themselves having a non-German nationality.

Some of our new families shared with us a few impressions of their start at St. George’s.

“We are a French family of four. The children grew up in Paris and we had the opportunity to move to London in 2018. We left London for Munich in 2022.
When we considered changing the school of our daughter Noemie, we had a very interesting meeting with Mr Dickinson and St. George´s offered a trial day. Noemie had the opportunity to meet pupils from the school and to join some classes, including BTech. Then, she knew immediately that she wanted to join St. George´s! Noemie is still good friends with the pupils she met on her trial day. She is very well integrated in the school.

Our daughter Anna is British, Hungarian and German (that's a lot of passports to carry around). Dad is originally from Sheffield, and Mum from Nagykanizsa, but Anna was born in Munich, which is about half way between where we both come from. That way both sets of grandparents are equally disappointed!
Anna joined her two sisters, in years 11 & 12, at St. George´s this year. Her integration was very fast and very smooth. She was worried she wouldn't know anyone - but she had a large group of friends after the first week.  Now after some months she is not the shy girl who often came home in tears - she loves the class, and she said, "Daddy, they teach interesting stuff and I understand it better than at the old school.

Many colleagues recommended that I enrol my children at St. George’s because they learn very well. Salem was very happy from the beginning, but Hanin didn't want to change from the German school. The first day she was sad but in the afternoon she came back and said that the school was amazing and she was happy.”

“My husband and the boys all have the same Japanese Kanji character ´Masa´ in common: Masatoshi (Father), Masayuki (Y10), Masaharu (Y9). We come from Fujisawa-City, Japan. We were looking for an international school in Munich because we could not speak German.
We had some colleagues' children attending St. George´s, who told us great stories about the school. We had a school tour during the last spring break and found it very nice and impressive.
Our sons made friends quickly. They became close mainly thanks to the after-school activities.
One of our sons was struggling with the second foreign language, which actually is his third foreign language. This was too confusing for him, but the teachers were flexible so he could concentrate first on his English and German.
