Year 1 Animal Experts

We are all a part of the Animal Kingdom…

This past half term, we have been investigating animals in Science. We have researched the differences between invertebrates and vertebrates, and we have been classifying vertebrates into the 5 common groups.

We have had a lot of fun comparing and contrasting mammals versus reptiles, amphibians versus fish, birds versus mammals… the list could go on!

We looked at various examples of each animal group and particularly enjoyed distinguishing between a crocodile and an alligator. We looked at skeletons of animals, and how they are assisted in water or on land by the different features they have.

The Seahorses particularly enjoyed learning about the magnificent African cheetah, allowing for discussions about habitats, food chains and meat eaters!

One thing is for sure… in the Seahorses class we most certainly love animals!
