St. George’s Awarded second place

St. George’s Awarded second place in the Annual Duke of Edinburgh Awards for Germany.

At St. George’s School Cologne we are passionate about enriching our pupils lives both inside and outside the classroom.

One strand of our extracurricular provision is our Duke of Edinburgh Award. All pupils in year 10 are offered the opportunity to participate in the award, supported by a large team of teachers.

We were visited by the Duke of Edinburgh Award, international assessment team in December and following the highly successful audit, the St. George’s Cologne Duke of Edinburgh International Award team have received second place in the Annual Operator Awards for Germany.

This is an exceptional achievement and is the result of a year of hard work, dedication and passion from both pupils and staff.

The highlights were:

• Our method of risk assessment of enterprises in the program part expeditions;
• The illustration of the integration of the award work with the work of the school, especially with Astronomy;
• The successful change in award management in record time;
• The inclusion of 30 participants in the discussions during the on-site visit.
