Foundation Stage

SUB-MENU

Our Foundation Stage encompasses our Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception classes, for children who are 2 to 5 years old.

In these early years, we understand the importance of providing a broad range of opportunities designed to give children the best possible start in life. We do this within an environment which is safe, welcoming and stimulating for children of this age.

During this important stage of development, our dedicated and experienced team of teachers use the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. This promotes the development of key skills through games and play, and gives children the flexibility to decide their own focus dependent on their interests, moods or preferred learning style.

In the Foundation Stage, we place emphasis on 7 core areas of learning

  1. Communication and Language
  2. Physical Development
  3. Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  4. Literacy
  5. Mathematics
  6. Understanding the World
  7. Expressive Arts and Design

Our teachers provide a rich range of activities for pupils, which allow them to explore and develop these areas, based on their own curiosity and personal learning goals. Teachers are constantly observing pupils, noting their progress and providing new, stimulating challenges to help take pupils to the next stages in their development.
