Music Academy

SUB-MENU

Providing a programme especially tailored for the pupils of the St. George’s School since 2013, the G. F. Handel Music Academy offers high quality instrumental lessons directly in the school and on the school grounds.

The lessons mostly take place during school hours, with each pupil following a rotating timetable that aims to ensure that no child misses the same classroom lesson every week, thus being able to follow the school lessons without loss. This system, widespread in institutions in the United Kingdom, makes it possible for all of the children to add further musical education to their curriculum and acquire and develop a sense of discipline and self-confidence, whilst strengthening their ability to learn, analyse, memorise and concentrate.

The academy, made of highly qualified and experienced professional musicians, offers a great variety of instrumental lessons, including piano, violin, drums, guitar, trombone and trumpet, to name a few. In addition, our pupils also have the opportunity to take part in different ensembles, orchestras and bands, as well as to try out a variety of instruments or learn different styles of dance at our After School Clubs.

We are also very proud to welcome ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) examiners to our school. Students with ABRSM qualifications at Grades 6 to 8 also benefit from UCAS (University and Colleges Admission Service) points which can be used as part of a university or college application in the UK.

Our pupils also take part in two annual concerts. This allows them to present the results of their hard work and is a great experience that teaches them some useful skills such as how to step up in front of an audience and present themselves, as well as how to set and achieve a goal, both on a single and ensemble level.
